Tina Watson Travis is a passionate advocate for sharing the rich culinary traditions of soul food with the next generation. As an experienced cook and educator, she is dedicated to making cooking fun and accessible for young people through her interactive approach. Tina’s latest book, Soul Food Fun: Cooking Experience for Young People, blends her love for food, family, and community, offering an engaging, hands-on experience that teaches young chefs not only how to cook but also the rich cultural history behind each dish.
With roots in the American South and a deep appreciation for her African American heritage, Tina strives to preserve the heart of soul food while encouraging creativity and independence in the kitchen. Whether it’s a Sunday brunch of sweet potato pancakes or a hearty lunch of barbecue wings, she believes that every meal is an opportunity to bond, learn, and celebrate the stories passed down through generations.
When she’s not cooking or writing, Tina enjoys teaching young chefs the skills and joys of preparing meals that nourish both the body and the soul. She lives by the motto: “Every dish tells a story—let’s make yours memorable!”
